This great Porsche 356 pre-A “Knickscheibe” has recently been completely restored. The bodywork was taken back to bare metal and all necessary repairs carried out. Before its restoration the car had a non-original red finish. The client knew the ultimate result would be achieved by restoring the original classic “Adria Blau Metallic” (colour code: R509) finish. This car is a 1954 edition, one of the 1,362 Knickscheibe Coupe’s built that year. It has Reutter bodywork. The aim of the restoration was clear but not that easy to execute; the car needed to be restored with as much as possible attention to detail and authenticity. Easier said than done. The work was carried out by an absolute top restorer in Germany. In total over € 200,000.- was spent on restoring this Porsche. The result is a fantastic looking and driving 356 pre-A. The restoration took over two years, completed in late 2017. Since then the car has only travelled 1,568 km.

The bodywork was taken back to bare metal and all necessary repairs carried out using new metal. The work was carried to a very high spec and has resulted in a brilliant and original look. The bodywork is perfect. The panelwork is nice and thin with correct alignment. The car was the resprayed in her original colour and looks a treat. Many of the mountings, such as the bumpers and lights, were replaced. The car naturally also had new and correctly sized tyres fitted. The steel rims have been colour-coded. The hubcaps were re-chromed.

The interior has also been colour-coded to match the external finish. The dashboard was resprayed in dark blue and the seats have been upholstered in fine grey leather. The headlining and carpets are all new and in keeping with the original spec. This Porsche 356 looks as if has just left the showroom for the first time. The door cards have been replicated to match the originals and every control and gauges was replaced. The interior is simply nothing less than pristine.

The mechanical side of things was certainly not overlooked either. The engine was dismantled down to the very last screw. The transmission was also dismantled, overhauled and rebuilt. The engine is a later 1958 one producing 75 Ps. The car handles perfectly with a bit more oomph than you would expect from a Porsche 356 pre-A. All the engine add-ons are new as is the whole suspension. The chassis, brakes and tyres are all new. That the car was restored to the highest standard is indisputable. The car looks great, drives fantastically and appears to have just left the dealership. The documentation supports the car seamlessly. All invoices relating to the restoration are present. There is also an extensive rapport and brilliant photo album. In short this a beautiful and rare 1954 Porsche 356 pre-A Knickscheibe Coupé visually but one that turns every mile into a feast and is ready for many more years of pure Porsche pleasure. The car is a welcome sight at many events, rallies and concourses; a serious car for the serious lover of classic vehicles.

Gallery Aaldering is a family owned business since 1975. Founder Nico Aaldering and his son Nick are responsible for operational and executive management. The company has been in Brummen since 1987 and started on the location where they currently have their second workshop and detailing shop. Nico started very small, with only three employees. People who still work for the company today. The company grew rapidly and established a name for itself based on quality. In the nineties it was time for expansions after many years of selling Alfa Romeo, then Italian cars later on followed by British cars as well. At the end of 2000 Gallery Aaldering moved to the current premises at the Arnhemsestraat in Brummen. This showroom was build according to Nico's idea and sketches and has a Neoclassical style to match the classic cars inside. During this time Nick entered the company after finishing his studies and working for different automotive companies. Gallery Aaldering expanded and gained momentum with the decades of experience offered by Nico and the bright new ideas and progressive vision offered by Nick. The collection became more diverse with an important move upwards to higher segments. Gallery Aaldering has grown to become one of the largest classic car dealers in Europe. There are about 350 classic cars on display on four floors with a Grand Café and special rooms for business meetings. As a family owned business Gallery Aaldering is proud of its history and traditions, but the future is just as important. At the heart of this all is the passion for classic automobiles. For that reason they participate in the most impressive classic car rally in the world, the Mille Miglia. A deeply rooted love for cars. You will find this in both their genes and the identity of this family owned business.
