Some cars need no introduction. Ferrari. Porsche. Mercedes-Benz. And then there is the Miura. Ask any enthusiast which Lamborghini changed everything, and chances are this will be the very first name mentioned. Quite remarkable for a car that remained in production for less than eight years.

By the mid-1960s, Lamborghini was still a relatively young manufacturer. Ferruccio Lamborghini had already built a series of magnificent grand tourers, but one ingredient was still missing: a true sensation. That changed when a small team of engineers came up with an idea that was highly unconventional at the time—mounting a twelve-cylinder engine transversely behind the seats instead of in front of the driver. That bold concept evolved into the Miura.

The moment the Miura was unveiled, it was immediately clear that this was no ordinary sports car. Its bodywork, designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, was low, wide, and breathtakingly fluid. Even standing still, the Miura appeared to be in motion. And then there were those unforgettable headlights with their iconic “eyelashes.” Once you’ve seen them, you’ll never forget them.

Technically, the Miura was just as extraordinary. Its transversely mounted V12, positioned directly behind the cockpit, gave the car a personality unlike anything else on the road. Not only visually, but experientially as well. The sound of twelve cylinders just inches behind your shoulders is something that simply cannot be fully captured in words.

In 1968, Lamborghini introduced the Miura P400 S. At first glance, the changes seemed subtle—and perhaps that was precisely the point. Lamborghini refined the original concept with tasteful interior upgrades, improved comfort, and an engine producing slightly more power than before. It remained unmistakably a Miura, but one that had matured in every important respect. In total, just 338 examples of the P400 S were produced.

This particular example was completed in early 1969 as one of the first P400 S models built. Its first owner was the Italian film critic and director Renzo Renzi. The car later found its way to the United States, where it spent many years as part of a distinguished collection. At the beginning of this century, the decision was made to subject the Miura to a complete restoration by Bobileff Motorcar Company, a name instantly recognized by Lamborghini enthusiasts around the world. Following the restoration, the Miura participated in numerous prestigious events, earning multiple awards along the way. As a result, this Lamborghini is presented in exceptional cosmetic and mechanical condition. Maintenance has continued to the same exacting standards ever since. The Weber carburetors have been professionally rebuilt, numerous mechanical components have been renewed, and as recently as early 2026, the car received servicing from a Lamborghini specialist.
Perhaps the most important detail of all? This Miura still retains its matching-numbers V12 engine, fully supported by the accompanying records and documentation. The original owner’s manuals and various Miura registry documents are also included in the comprehensive history file.
Ultimately, that may be what the Miura is truly about. Of course, the design is breathtaking, and naturally it commands attention wherever it appears. But what truly makes this Lamborghini extraordinary is the fact that, more than half a century later, it still accomplishes exactly what it did when new: it stops people in their tracks. And truthfully, very few automobiles can claim that.
