Early start to season for classic car scene: 21st edition of the world’s largest trade fair for driving culture will open its doors from 5 to 7 February 2021.
The corona crisis is continuously disrupting the global trade fair industry. A large number of events are being postponed – and must now be incorporated in the trade fair calendar for 2021 that is already well-filled. This monumental planning task demands a certain degree of flexibility by every participant. In order to prevent clashes of dates at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre, RETRO CLASSICS® STUTTGART is therefore moving to an alternative date: the 21st edition of the world’s largest trade fair for driving culture will be held from 5 to 7 February 2021 and not, as previously scheduled, from 18 to 21 March 2021. The season will therefore start for all fans, dealers and collectors of classic cars a few weeks earlier.
Andreas Herrmann, Managing Director of RETRO Messen GmbH, regards thechange of date as an “inevitable necessity” which must be confronted as calmly and professionally as possible: “In our capacity as the organiser, we are all in the same boat. We therefore want to make the best out of the current situation and play our part in ensuring that the trade fair can soon run normally again. In order to take account of all interests, we must literally move slightly closer together. This is the only way to minimise the economic and organisational damage caused by the corona crisis.”
According to Herrmann, everything actually has a positive side: “Since the 2020season has largely fallen through, the classic car scene is looking forward with even more excitement to next year – and welcomes the earlier date for RETRO CLASSICS® STUTTGART in 2021. In addition, we have already had some good experiences with an early date. For example, the anniversary edition of RETRO CLASSICS® in February this year was a success despite the start of the pandemic. This was confirmed by a large number of positive replies from exhibitors and visitors. In order to be able to react properly to the dynamic health situation, we also want to continue the good objective cooperation with the responsible authorities in 2021. However, the most important thing at present is to send a “clear signal” to the exhibitors and visitors: RETRO CLASSICS® 2020 in Stuttgart was the last big event before the shutdown – and will also again open the driving culture season in 2021!”
