With festivities underway in just four weeks, preparations for Silverstone Festival, 22nd-24th August, are flying. Six series from the Motor Racing Legends stable will race across a packed weekend schedule.
The one-off Andy Rouse Trophy, for Ford Sierras in the Historic Touring Car Challenge, celebrates 40 years since the car’s debut in the British Touring Car Championship, earning Rouse his fourth title in 1985. Rouse will be in attendance to present the trophy himself, and a big entry of Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworths is already forming. For more information, read the news here.
Alongside the big Sierra presence in HTCC, there’s a distinctly continental flavour. Samuel Verheggen is bringing his Mercedes 190 Evo 2 DTM from Belgium, and a bumper group of BMW E30 M3 entries will evoke memories of late 1980s and early ‘90s German competition. 50 minutes of racing awaits the grid on Sunday morning.

GT3 Legends makes its Silverstone Festival bow, and the 50-minute race – extended from the originally announced 40 minutes – already has a packed entry list. We’re thrilled to welcome the Reiter/SaReNi Chevrolet Camaro of Nigel Mustill (above, photo: Jordan Butters), which makes its GT3 Legends debut. The car was not regularly seen in period racing and it’s a rare treat to have on the grid.
The Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy is also welcoming a big grid, including a group of Jowett Jupiters, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the car’s introduction and the first of three Le Mans class wins in 1950, ’51 and ’52. Running with the Stirling Moss Trophy, 70 years since the man himself won his first Grand Prix, the grid for the 50-minute race on Saturday morning is filling fast.
HMRN Pre ’63 GT will race for the prestigious Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy on Sunday morning. The 50-minute race marks the 120th anniversary of the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy, the world’s oldest automobile race, and will be flagged off with a commemorative Union Flag, which will be presented to the winners as a unique prize. The Tourist Trophy itself (above, right, photo: Royal Automobile Club) will also be in attendance.
Grid spaces are in high demand, so if you intend to race, please book your place now in the Motor Racing Legends app.
Off-track, the Motor Racing Legends hospitality will welcome entrants on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for breakfast and lunch. On Friday evening, the paddock community is invited to join us for the Joe Macari Ace Car Quiz. Held in the Motor Racing Legends hospitality, the event will raise money for the halow project. For more information, and to enter the quiz, click here.
There is further off-track entertainment in the form of live music every night of the festival with Craig David, Natasha Bedingfield and Ministry of Sound Orchestral performing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening respectively. Access to these concerts is included with race entry.
Finally, a reminder that Motor Racing Legends is organising a bespoke, unsilenced test preceding Silverstone Festival, on Wednesday 20th August. Any closed-wheel car, whether they are racing at the event or not, is welcome. Running from the National Paddock, the test is split into groups for ‘slow’ and ‘fast’ entries, offering a total of just shy of 180 minutes of track time. Find more information here.
