In the motorsport’s world, it is easy to blend into the rostered, hardworking group of drivers and teams. Through each driver’s honed skillset and attempting to shine for the world is often close to impossible; only the most patient and persistent take Podium and leave a legendary and unforgettable legacy. Two names in motorsport are known for their sheer will and determination, and made it a goal to be printed in the record books:

The Ford GT and Chip Ganassi. One was a most unsuspecting racecar designed to beat Ferrari’s Italian purebred car in 1966 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the other is a Hall of Fame member for his courageous moves in the motorsports world and simultaneously, a championship team owner. Both started with a winning vision they could feel and would end up proving to the competition that they were not to be messed with, recording themselves down in motorsports history with pen and paper. With both their legacies tied together more recently with Chip Ganassi Racing chosen by Ford to run their new Ford GT in IMSA and specific European races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the pair have managed to make a name for themselves together and separately.

The Ford GT40 legacy tells a tale of a timeline of over half a century. The first wave of Ford GT40s were designed and built with one obsession in mind; to give Ferrari no choice but to eat their dust during the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1966, they took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at Le Mans proving that an American manufacturer could not only compete and run with the European top dogs, but leave them hanging and keep in their rearview mirrors. The Ford GT40 would continue to dominate Le Mans for the next 3 years, solidifying a 4-year streak between 1966 and 1969. After the final race, the Ford GT name would take an extended hibernation of almost four decades, finally opening its eyes in 2004 with all-new GT road cars. These were developed to be street cars with 550 horsepower with just a tap of the throttle.

Ford would then again disappear beneath the surface for almost a decade, leaving fans and enthusiasts with unanswered questions as to if and when the GT would ever come back. Lo and behold, Ford attends the 2015 Detroit Auto Show bringing a huge surprise to its fans and enthusiasts and unveils the 2015 Ford GT. It was later announced in the summer of that year, that the Ford GT was set to go racing in both IMSA and the World Sports Car series, lead by the Chip Ganassi Racing team. Just like dejavu from 50 years ago to the day with Ford’s first place win on the Podium at Le Mans, Chip Ganassi Racing would take 1st in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016 with their Ford GT, just like what they did with their predecessor.

Ford saw a flooding of applicants who wanted to get their hands on one of the limited allocations for their road car application process who wanted to get their hands on one of the limited allocations, despite only 1,000 being announced to be built initially. With over 8,000 applications in just the first week, most received rejections only to dream of what it would be like to own Ford’s most advanced and modern supercar. A small number of very lucky
individuals would learn that they would soon be customizing and receiving their very own Ford GT, one of the most advanced sports cars available even to this day.

This single owner car was purchased from a customer (and friend of Bruce Canepa), who over the years has had some of the greatest cars.

Upon arrival at Canepa, every collector car for sale is put through an extensive and diligent process called the “Canepa Difference.” This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where all systems are checked and serviced as necessary.
