After an announcement September of 1969, the DBS was made available with the long awaited V8 engine, with the car being known as the DBSV8 – a four-seat grand touring car, capable of exceptional speeds. As with the straight six, the design of the new V8 engine was the work of Tadek Marek. With a capacity of 5340cc and 4 overhead camshafts, the DBSV8 was the fastest 4-seater production car in the world at the time. This engine was to form the basis of all Aston Martin power plants for the next 20 years. Notable visual differences included the 15” GKN light alloy wheels and a brawnier front end, among others.
One of the finest Aston Martin V8’s we have offered!
The Aston Martin V8 is often considered the Gentleman’s British Muscle Car, both for its performance and for its beautiful lines and presence. This car, V8/11723/LCA was completed July 22, 1977 in Royal Claret Metallic over Natural leather trim and Woburn Sand carpet – desirably equipped with power windows, locks, assisted steering, air conditioning, 5-Speed manual transmission, Weber carburetors and an exceptionally rare electric sliding sunroof. 11723 was dispatched on August 24th and originally imported as a U.S. specification model through Aston Martin Lagonda Inc. USA.
This nicely presented and amazingly preserved V8 was previously owned by a spine surgeon and avid golfer from Kansas. It is believed he was the second caretaker and retained the car for over twenty-five years. In the recent decade, the Aston Martin was thoughtfully stored with limited use, until 2017 when it was pulled from storage and a thorough recommissioning was ordered, service included a renewal and restoration to the entire braking system, fresh filters, fluids and ignition consumables, new sunroof mechanism and auxiliary electronics, new headliner and light upholstery touch-ups, correct tires and fuel system components. In October 2018 an extensive cosmetic freshening and service was later performed by noted restorer and Pebble Beach winner Jeff’s Resurrections of Taylor, Texas. This included minor touch-ups, dent removal and polishing to what is believed to be majority original paintwork, lower front valance restoration, DYNO tuning of the carburetors, ignition and timing equipment, cabin and safety light repairs among others.
Overall, the V8 appears to retain much of its factory equipment, all body panels and etched glass. The current recorded mileage of 30,300 is believed to be original. The unspoiled engine bay and stowage compartment, complete with spare and tool sleeve show well as original, as does the frame and pans which are remarkably solid and free of corrosion concerns. Performance is strong and reflects that of maintained example.
Included with the Aston Martin is the original Instruction Book, reproduction workshop manual, several years of registration records, and importantly, a copy of the Factory Car Record Card and Aston Martin Heritage Trust – both verifying the vehicle’s factory configuration. This stunning Series III V8 certainly impresses and makes for a highly capable machine. Now available for worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas showroom.
