In 1960, BRM sent three of their P48 cars to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone to be driven by Graham Hill, Dan Gurney and Jo Bonnier. Hill managed to stall the engine at the start and could only get going as the very last car.

He managed to fight his way into the lead only to run into trouble with his brakes and, when they failed, he spun off the track and into retirement. Bonnier retired due to a broken suspension while Dan Gurney finished, but in tenth place.
