At Gallery Aaldering’s family-owned company, everything revolves around cars that evoke emotion. Cars that do far more than simply deliver impressive performance. Some Ferraris possess that ability to an extraordinary degree. The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona is one of those Ferraris that is not merely admired, but has become the symbol of an era in which design, engineering, and passion came together on a level that scarcely exists today. It was a completely different era, and this particular example transports you straight back to 1971 — or perhaps, judging by its wonderfully original interior, to around 1975. More on that later.
Some color combinations completely transform a car. This Ferrari is finished in the rare shade of “Giallo Senape,” a mustard-yellow hue that accentuates the lines of the Daytona in an almost theatrical way. Only nine examples were ever delivered new in this color, and as far as is known, this is the only Daytona still wearing its original Giallo Senape paint today. That makes this Ferrari not only exceptionally rare, but also absolutely mesmerizing to behold. A Daytona is already a very special Ferrari by nature, but in this specification? Legendary. It is a color that comes alive in the light, highlighting the sharp lines of the iconic design and perfectly matching the outspoken personality of the Daytona.
This Ferrari was delivered new in Italy in 1971. After several years, the car moved to Switzerland before eventually making its way to the United States through Rob de la Rive Box. Ultimately, the car returned to Europe and became part of a German collection.
Over the past years, this Daytona has been restored, rebuilt, and mechanically overhauled with the utmost care. A process in which no expense was spared and only renowned specialists were involved. The bodywork was entrusted to Auto Classica Rubbio, while the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Roelofs Engineering. The chrome work was completed in Italy, and the correct carpets were specially produced in Modena.
What makes this restoration particularly special is the fact that original elements were carefully preserved wherever possible. The original leather seats and dashboard, for example, were intentionally left untouched. As a result, the interior does not feel newly restored, but authentically preserved. In Gallery Aaldering’s opinion, this represents the very best of both worlds: the quality of a high-level restoration combined with the atmosphere and soul of an original car.
This Daytona is matching numbers and, as mentioned, matching colors as well. The history of the car has also been extensively researched and documented by renowned Ferrari historian Massini. In addition, the car is accompanied by an impressive collection of documentation and invoices detailing the complete restoration process.
The Daytona was never just another Ferrari. It was the final classic front-engined V12 Ferrari from a bloodline that traces directly back to the very origins of the marque itself. The long hood, the proportions, and the subtle aggression of the design reveal a Ferrari from an era when beauty and mechanical perfection went hand in hand.
And then there is the V12. The moment the engine comes to life, you immediately understand why legendary Ferraris like this have achieved an almost mythical status. The sound is raw, mechanical, and emotional all at once. Not a filtered experience, but pure sensation. This Daytona does not merely drive impressively — it feels extraordinary in every sense.
