After a year of writing, inviting you to dive into the world of CHAPAL, its secrets of craftsmanship, behind the scenes, and the history of its iconic creations, we are closing our doors for the summer with the Pebble Beach jacket.
Let’s savor this final episode together to elegantly conclude Season 1 of our 1832 series…
In August 2013, Jean-François Bardinon and his family were invited to the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, a prestigious gathering place for automobile enthusiasts since 1950. The organizers entrusted CHAPAL with creating the Pebble Beach jacket to outfit all the event personnel. Jean-François Bardinon designed this refined leisure jacket, distinguished by its beautiful cotton fabric and its cut reminiscent of a small zippered blazer. The Pebble Beach jacket embodies the history and traditions of the Maison with brown leather inserts and large patch pockets.
The Pebble Beach is worn close to the body, made of navy blue, ecru, black, or gold cotton whipcord adorned with a few leather pieces. The jacket is lined with cotton poplin or fine silk, features a brass RIRI zipper, and an interior pocket, making it an original and sophisticated model.
In the new 2024 collection, the Pebble Beach sports a beautiful embroidery representing the California flag and its bear. The older models are also available in the CHAPAL vintage wardrobe on our site.
A few weeks after the American event, the jacket was adopted into the CHAPAL collection, by both men and women. Its style, lightness, and functionality attracted car enthusiasts as well as lovers of countryside walks or seaside strolls.
These last lines conclude under a bright sun… The CHAPAL family hopes to have given you a detailed sketch of its history, work, and passion for French craftsmanship over so many years.
