Porsche built the 356 from 1948 to 1965, from the start as a cabriolet and coupe. The 356 was the first production car to bear the Porsche name. Today there are four series. The first, built from 1948 to 1955, is called the “Urmodel”. The outstanding feature is the split windscreen, which had a center bar until 1952, and then a one-piece screen with a crease in the middle. These models are listed in the scene as “Knickscheibe”.

Because Ferry Porsche uncompromisingly designed his first car as a sports car, the car, which weighs only 810 kg and has 55 hp, reaches a top speed of 155 km/h, also thanks to the good aerodynamics developed by the VW Beetle designer Erwin Komenda.

Only about 4700 vehicles of the this 356 “Urmodel” were produced.

This Porsche 356 Cabriolet was delivered to Kaiserslautern (Germany) on October 13, 1954. A Porsche birth certificate and reports are available.
