For 200 years the Clyde on Scotland’s West Coast has been a legendary playground for sailors. From 15 to 25 June 2026 it will be the setting for the Richard Mille Cup. An event that brings together many of the world’s finest classic yachts in a series of eight races. The winner will be rewarded with the stunning metre high Richard Mille Cup created by crown jewellers Garrard.
The racing will be tailored to suit a fleet of yachts ranging from magnificent 3 masted
schooners to smaller but equally legendary yachts. Many of the yachts will be over one hundred years old but all in immaculate condition. With protected flat waters surrounded by the beautiful coastline and the peaks on the Island of Aran this will be a spectacular sight.
The awesome beauty of the yachts and scenery apart there will also be real challenges for
the sailors with long courses including a race round the Ailsa Craig; a challenge which passed into legend over 100 years ago. Indeed, the yachts will be sailing on waters made
famous by their contemporaries who originally competed on the Clyde.
Reinforcing this connection, the Richard Mille Cup will take place shortly after the Richard
Mille Fife Regatta which brings some of the most beautiful and famous yachts in the world
back to the place where they were built and first sailed.
Event Director and classic yacht expert William Collier commented: ‘After having enjoyed
two fabulous Richard Mille Cups on the South Coast of England, we are excited to have this
exceptional fleet come racing on the Clyde. There will be great sport afloat and real camaraderie ashore with a series of activities and receptions showcasing the best Scotland has to offer.’
With the yachts and dedicated owners at the centre of this sporting celebration of classic
yachts it will be a thrilling ten days on and off the water.
