The GHT has been developed by historic racing drivers for today’s historic racing owner driver to enjoy. The race series celebrates the two people who created historic racing in the mid 60’s, Guy Griffiths and Betty Haig.
The Griffith’s Formula as it was known became the Historic Sports Car Club – the world’s first club devoted to racing with post war sports & GT cars. Their philosophy is to have the type of 50s cars that were around when the Griffiths Formula races were conceived. Those cars that raced in the early days of the Griffiths Formula including, Fraser Nash’s, Porches, Allard’s, C Type and D Type Jaguars and many other one off cars that aren’t seen regularly racing at today’s historic events. The classes feature drum braked GT & Sports cars up to 1961 and invited disc brake GT & sports cars up to 1958. A high standard of driving and camaraderie between the amateur owner drivers is important.
Professional drivers and people driving at a professional level are not encouraged. FIA papers are not required for the GHT.
