What Makes This Car So Special?

The Miura wasn’t born inside a boardroom.
It was born out of passion.

In 1965, three young and ambitious Lamborghini engineers, Giampaolo Dallara, Paolo Stanzani and Bob Wallace, secretly developed an entirely new concept after working hours. Their dream was simple: build a road car with genuine racing DNA.

Ferruccio Lamborghini had never asked for it.
In fact, he wasn’t even sure he wanted it.
Fortunately, he allowed the project to continue.

What followed became one of the most important moments in automotive history.

1965: Three Engineers, One (Im)possible Dream

While the official Lamborghini factory focused on luxurious GT cars, three engineers quietly developed something entirely different.

Their project became known as the P400.

When the rolling chassis debuted at the Turin Motor Show, people immediately placed orders, even though there wasn’t yet a body fitted to the car.

The legend had already begun.

1969: The Miura S arrived

The P400 S refined an icon.

Power increased by another 20 horsepower.
Power windows.
Improved carburetion.
Greater refinement.
More comfort.
And above all…

Even greater desirability.

Only 338 examples of the Miura S would ever leave Sant’Agata.

A Life Worthy of an Icon

This Miura’s story is almost as fascinating as the model itself.

Delivered new in Italy to renowned film critic and director Renzo Renzi, this early-production P400 S eventually found its way to the United States, where it underwent an extensive mechanical restoration by the legendary Bobileff Motorcar Company, widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost Lamborghini specialists.

Its quality quickly became evident.

The Miura won both its class and the People’s Choice Award at the Concorso Italiano, before taking another class victory at the Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance.

Today it still retains its matching-numbers V12, has been meticulously maintained throughout its life, including specialist servicing in 2026, and remains one of the most striking Miuras Gallery Aaldering has ever had the privilege to present.
