InterClassics in Maastricht is traditionally the season opener for enthusiasts of the classic car scene. This year, the small but excellent trade fair celebrated its thirtieth anniversary. Every year, part of the Inter Classics is a special show with a special theme.
This year it is a colourful mix of illustrious classic vehicles, some road and sports cars, some special racing cars. This special show is beautifully constructed and illuminated, with semi-transparent flags bearing the ‘30’ logo and illuminated in different shades of red, forming the centre of the large hall and the show’s crowd-puller.
On the occasion of this thirtieth anniversary, the visitors took centre stage. The organisers had a special idea to allow visitors and fans of this event to participate in the design of the exhibition. Many interested parties took part in two voting campaigns to choose the best cars of the 30th anniversary InterClassics Show. Participants were able to choose from over 100 exclusive and rare classic cars and super sports cars. The Ferrari 250 SWB received the most votes and thus became the new car for the exhibition poster. Because the posters always feature a different vehicle that visualises the main theme, they are always very artistic and graphically designed.
Other favourites for the poster were the Ford GT40, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and the Amilcar Type C6. The winners were chosen in a total of 21 categories. These categories were earlier themes of the Inter Classics special show. For example, 60 years of Ferrari with the overall winner 250 GT SWB, 70 years of Jaguar with the D-Type ‘Le Mans’, 125 years of Mercedes Benz with the 300 SL Gullwing, 100 years of BMW with the marvellous Type 507, 120 years of Ford Motorsport with the iconic Ford GT40, Aston Martin with the DB5 James Bond, 100 years of Maserati with the beautiful A6 GCS, Forgotten Classics with the Veritas 315, Dutch Grand Prix Classics with the Talbot Lago T26C.
