Markus Plaum held his first analogue camera in his hands at the age of 13 and quickly realised that the playful handling of sharpness and image details gives photography new and creative perspectives. He has just presented his new book Landy Passion at an exclusive event organised by Jaguar Land Rover Classic Centre Europe in Essen/Germany.Â
You can see it – if you feel it is his personal claim. Here are some first impressions of this marvellous book.
Anyone who has ever driven a Landy or had a Landy knows: A Landy is uncomfortable and loud. Driving means physical labour. It costs a lot of money to buy and even more money to maintain. But they also know the incredible feeling of freedom and adventure, of deceleration and coolness that is triggered by the mere sight of the Defender. But the best thing is that driving a Landy gives you the feeling that you can stop time.
As a photographer and passionate Landy driver, Markus wondered if he was the only Defender driver who felt this way about his Landy. His team and he took his Defender and drove across Europe to meet people and places that have a special relationship with their Landys. Along the way, they met many great, warm, interesting, curious and open-minded people. Typical Landy drivers, you might say. The result is 20 very different Landy Love Photos stories that all have one thing in common: Their passion for, with and through their Landy. Enjoy the visual journey LANDY PASSION road trip.
The Jaguar Land Rover Classic Centre in Essen is such a place where dreams come true. There are always around 20 high-calibre classic Jaguar or Land Rover cars on display and just as many are being serviced or restored by trained staff in the company’s own specialist workshop.
Managing Director Ralf Klasen and his Head Of Sales Oliver Schepp-Dane are absolute specialists for the vehicles of the British cult brands and in this respect the exceptionally beautiful location and the showroom were a unique setting for the presentation of the book Landy Passion. Many like-minded people and Landy enthusiasts spent a wonderful afternoon with Christmas flair and some culinary delights, to which the nearby Schloss Hugenpoet had also invited as co-organiser.
