The Connolly Drove blanket is named after the road that for hundreds of years shepherds herded their sheep to market on the Scottish borders…this blanket weaving family owned company is now the only surviving woollen tweed mill left in the area.
Cloth was woven here for Bernat Klein and Coco Chanel and today those traditions and colours and technical knowledge have been kept alive with a legacy skill set and a warm embrace of modern design.
The Drove blanket is an archive design, the lichen colours are as fresh and unconventional as when they were first considered over sixty years ago. Connolly signature detailing can be seen in the hand whip-stitched edge in contrast wool and the hand blocked leather label.
Woven in pure British wool that gives a dry utilitarian handle, the Drove is a hard working travel rug. Keep in the car, for those winter days, in case of a breakdown or rolled in our picnic carrier; thick enough to lie and eat on; looking as good on Elie beach as the back seat of your car!
