After four years of suspense, the 10th edition of Le Mans Classic once again breathed life into the legend of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the legendary track, located in the Sarthe region of France.
During these several days, bathed in summery sunshine and joyful conviviality, 750 race cars having previously distinguished themselves at Le Mans between the 1920s and 1980s were divided into 6 grids and took to the track at full tilt, revisiting the legendary Hunaudières straight, Indianapolis curve, Tertre Rouge, Mulsanne and Arnage bends. An automotive Who’s who of famous names associated in the minds of motorsport lovers with icons such as the Bugatti T35, Jaguar Type D, Lotus 15, Ford GT 40, Lola T70 or Chevron B31. And indeed, these are the mechanical legends that won in their respective age-group classes.
But beyond the sporting results, what matters is the passion that radiated brightly from 30 June to 3 July, set to a soundtrack of lyrically roaring engines. A feast for both eyes and ears, attendees were able to see and hear onthe track Porsche 917s and a Ferrari 312 P — of which there are only two left in the world — for instance, as well as the Mazda 787B, winner of the 1991 Le Mans 24 Hours, with its unique high-pitched screaming rotary engine.
Richard Mille expresses the brand’s close-knit ties with the automotive world in multiple ways, notably via its participation in Endurance racing, Formula 1, the Rallye des Princesses Richard Mille and the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille concours, as well as alongside the McLaren and Ferrari partnerships.
All that remains is to count the days until the next edition of this special event. Exceptionally, to celebrate the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Le Mans Classic will take place next summer, from 29 June to 2 July 2023.
