Also referred to as the 910, the Porsche Carrera 10 was a purpose-built racing car evolved from the successful Porsche 906. Seen as a continuation of the 906 line, the factory designated 910/6 is both lighter and shorter than the previous model.
It is also the first Porsche to use 13-inch wheels with a single large center nut, which allowed for quicker tire changes during pit stops than wheels with five lugs, a feature that also placed it in a class reserved for vehicles with larger diameter wheels. During its career, this 910 (Chassis #006) participated in the Targa Florio, the Tour de France, and the 1969 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it finished first in the 2.0-Liter Prototype Class.
