In light of current events and growing measures to contain the coronavirus, not to mention the duty of care towards guests and staff, it is with a heavy heart that the Organisation Team of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este has decided not to proceed with this year’s edition on the planned dates (22nd to 24th May, 2020). Instead, they plan to hold the event from October 16th to 18th, 2020.
Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will continue to monitor the development of the spread of the coronavirus and expect a final confirmation this June.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este enjoys a long-standing reputation as one of the most sophisticated and exclusive events of its kind. They aim is to always meet this aspiration. However, current circumstances make it impossible for them to guarantee the calibre of event that you have come to expect this coming May.
There early cancellation for May will hopefully make planning easier for there many overseas guests, knowing they have longer lead times for logistics, travel arrangements, etc.

The organisation Team of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is monitoring new developments in connection with the coronavirus in Italy very carefully and will continue to do so. We are also monitoring the travel advice issued by the foreign offices of various governments.
We will notify you without delay whether this year’s edition of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este can take place as planned, has to be postponed or indeed cancelled.

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este owes its privileged status among the world’s most prestigious heritage events for historic vehicles to a number of unique attributes. These include the elegance of the event, its long and illustrious tradition, the unrivalled flair experienced at the majestic Grand Hotel Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como and the small, select groups of participants.
The Grand Hotel Villa d’Este is one of the world’s most iconic hotels. The grounds and parkland offer guests and visitors an opportunity to admire around 50 remarkable historic automobiles every year. The various classes are organised in different categories and judged by a world-famous jury headed by Jury President, Lorenzo Ramaciotti.
At the end of May 2020, Cernobbio will become the go-to destination for automobile aficionados from all over the world. A select elite from the international collector scene will come together there once again. The official opening of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will take place on Friday 22nd May 2020.
The excitement will start to mount on Saturday when all the vehicles take up their positions in the morning. On 23rd May 2020, the carefully selected classic cars will be appraised in the exclusive gardens of Villa d’EsteThe traditional apogee of this lavish presentation comes when each of the vehicles parades on the terrace of the Grand Hotel directly overlooking the banks of Lake Como.
On Sunday, a procession will be staged in the park of the nearby Villa Erba. These grounds also occupy a majestic position directly on the edge of the lake and their expansive green swards offer the public audience the opportunity to take a closer look at these exceptional automobiles. This frequently also enables visitors to engage in discussions with the custodians and owners of the vehicles, as well as talking to celebrities from the automobile world – the Concorso Villa d’Este is recognised particularly by designers as a superlative travel destination. You are unlikely to find a comparable selection of legendary automobile jewels anywhere else in the world.
In 2020, the field of participants will again be presented in eight special classes.
The Selecting Committee is delighted to present the first four classes of the Historic Cars for the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2020:

- Pre-war Roadsters
- Cops and Robbers: Fast cars from both sides of the Law
- From Swinging Sixties to Awesome Eighties: Two Decades of Endurance Racing
And let’s not forget the Concorso di Motociclette, which will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2020. Across the world, there is virtually no other opportunity to experience rare two-wheelers of this quality at a single venue. The motorcycles tell their own stories and symbolise the lifeblood of their owners, who have invested so much care in these eye witnesses to the development of motorised transport.
In 2020, the beauty contest for Historic Motorcycles in the grounds of Villa Erba will once more include six motorcycle classes. The Selecting Committee is delighted to present the following classes for the Concorso di Motociclette 2020:

- Boxers of the Early 1920s
- American Greats
- Styling the 1950s
- The Motorcycle Work of Lino Tonti (1920 – 2002)
- Concept Bikes: New Design and Prototypes by Manufacturers and Independents
You are cordially invited to submit a registration form for your vehicle or motorcycle even if it does not match any of the classes defined above. Your application will be considered independently of the classes. As in the past, the various classes will reflect a broad bandwidth of automobiles, motorcycles and themes.
