The first HK Rally this year led the participants to nothing less than King Ludwig’s last dream, he planned another retreat on the Falkenstein shortly before his death. This is the highest castle ruin in Germany. It is within sight of the famous Neuschwanstein Castle.Â
At the end of the day, the promising tour through the Pfaffenwinkel and the Allgäu took the HK -Team along a wildly romantic single-track serpentine route to a location with a breathtaking, somewhat cloudy view of the Alpine foothills and culinary highlights in the restaurant. In any case, the Burghotel Falkenstein was an absolute highlight and not only the destination for the day on Thursday, but also the domicile for the entire rally.
The clouds had disappeared overnight and on Friday, in sunshine, the beautiful cars drove about 70 km through picturesque countryside northwards to the next castle on the “Allgäu” tour. The landmark of the town of Mindelheim, the Mindelburg, dates back to the 12th century and the classic cars looked very modern in comparison, but such old walls in the background are highly decorative, aren’t they?
The last stage was called “Berg & Tal” (Mountain & Valley), which describes Saturday’s route very well. Via FĂĽssen the group went through the Namlos Valley, a high road with magnificent mountain scenery, to DamĂĽls in the Bregenzerwald. From there, after a panoramic lunch in bright sunshine, the participants drove over winding mountain passes with fantastic panoramas back to the hotel in the Allgäu. At the end of the tour, everyone deserved another culinary treat and of course the Rally will take place again next year!
