After what seems like a long winter break the first major event for European classic car racing will take place at Goodwood on April 12th and 13th.
Prior to the race there are 5 testing days scheduled to allow cars and drivers to check out their joint capabilities. I attended the first of these last week which allowed me to also test out my own skills and learn how to get the best out of a new pair of cameras. Photo technology is moving forward at a fast pace as the major manufacturers seek to remain relevant in an era when everyone who has a smart phone can create great images. Colin Chapman would also be pleased to see that the latest generations of cameras have significantly reduced weight. Carrying a set up that weighs 4 kilos rather than the previous generation’s 9 kilos makes a huge difference to the wear and tear on my ever ageing human body.
One unique feature of the Members Meeting is the display of thousands of daffodils that line the track and are in full bloom at this time of year. I make no apologies for featuring theses in many of the following photos. Hopefully they will not have withered before the meeting next month.
There will be 4 further testing sessions over the next couple of weeks which can be attended at no cost by members of the Goodwood Road and Racing Club. I plan to do more of my own testing at each of them.
