The Festival of Speed is very much about the past, present and future of motoring in all its forms. As motor shows have become somewhat passe it has become the default event for showing off new products. This also has the great advantage of showing them as moving rather than just static objects.
This year was no exception and there was a plethora of new and exciting machinery.
For collectors the “traditional” makers of high end sports cars were all present:
The Tesla Cyber truck was also running up the hill. It is fast, though the general consensus is that it is not a thing of beauty.
Some Luxury cars were also doing ridiculous speeds
Some “old” makes are being revived such as Hispano Suiza.
While some new makes were also present:
Plus previously unheard of Chinese makes including Yan Wang.
Some traditional makes were showing newly built recreations of old cars such as Bentley.
And Auto Union – though in this case the original car only existed in pre war drawings.
Finally, many believe that the future of motoring will be dominated by autonomous car – so there was even an example of an driverless race car on show
Who knows how the future of car collecting will turn out? What is clear to see today is that many producers are competing to build cars that will be close to the top of anyone’s list.
