Ferrari’s history is rooted in the history of motor racing. It also reflects the history of the evolution of exceptional performance road cars, characterised by bold and unmistakable design and technical solutions derived from the racing world.
These cars, created in Ferrari’s Maranello workshops since 1947, are a perfect synthesis of technological research and craftsmanship that only the Prancing Horse can deliver. That is why they are destined to last over time.
Most of the cars produced from the dawn of the marque to today still exist and run, thanks to the care taken by their owners to keep them perfectly efficient and very safe on the roads. Such maintenance can only be performed by a highly skilled technician who has the deepest knowledge of the secrets of Ferrari engines and the specific features of each automobile.
In 2006 the company gave birth to Ferrari Classiche, the department of excellence that offers owners an exclusive service. Its purpose is to protect the invaluable heritage that these cars represent.
The Classiche team has the expertise necessary to handle complex restorations, returning a car to its original form in terms of mechanics and bodywork. Ferrari Classiche also provides the assistance and support needed to deal both with the complex stages of extraordinary maintenance and the normal use of the cars.
THE WORLD OF FERRARI CLASSICHE
A Ferrari Classiche owner not only has the pleasure of driving a rare, or sometimes one-of-a-kind car, he also gains access to exclusive activities organised by the company designed to fit the specific type of car in his collection. This unique great passion is shared in the worldwide celebration of the anniversaries of the most iconic cars, in direct participation (or in support of) the most prestigious events of classic motoring such as the Le Mans Classic, Historic Grand Prix of Monaco, Mille Miglia and Targa Florio, in the organisation of dynamic events aimed at the use of the cars in extraordinary situations, and in elegant competitions put on by Ferrari and other organisations.
OFFICINEÂ CLASSICHEÂ SERVICES
The essential starting point of the service offered by Ferrari Classiche is the Certificate of Authenticity, only available in Maranello.
AÂ UNIQUEÂ SERVICE
The Certificate of Authenticity is for all Ferrari road cars over 20 years old and is also available for Ferrari F1, Sportscars and Sport-Prototypes, with no restrictions on the age of the car.
The integrity and absolute uniqueness of the Ferrari archives, where the technical records of all cars produced since 1947 are jealously guarded, means the company is able to unequivocally establish conformity with the original design of any car made in its workshops.
The full benefits of the Certificate of Authenticity are manifold: in addition to protecting the priceless heritage of an historic car, the Certificate increases sale value, while giving access to the most prestigious official events organised by the Prancing Horse.
This unique service is very important for owners, as only Ferrari Classiche can release an official document confirming the full authenticity of a car.
SELECTED FERRARI WORKSHOPS
In January 2016 Ferrari Classiche embarked upon a process of improving its assistance service, aiming also to provide it in a number of selected Ferrari workshops outside Maranello. Like Maranello, these service centres are also highly specialised and able to satisfy the owner of a classic Ferrari in every way from ordinary and extraordinary maintenance to inspection and drafting of the preparatory documents for certification.
STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE
Ferraris are universally considered special cars, synonymous with mechanical excellence and cutting edge technology, devoted to the pursuit of maximum performance.
All this of course implies special safeguards and care, so that the unique characteristics that distinguish the car remain unchanged over time.
Two key parameters with great impact on performance, reliability and road safety are correct maintenance and compliance with the strict dictates set by Ferrari. These standards of excellence can only be respected through state of the art maintenance at authorised Classiche Workshops, at Maranello and at the ones soon due to open around the world.
Here, all Prancing Horse cars find the specialists, know-how and equipment needed for state of the art maintenance, so as to increase their value and worth in full compliance with the parameters set by the parent company.
The cars analysed receive the Classiche Workshops “maintenance manual”, which contains a record of the perfect state of the mechanics and body, and the vehicle’s conformity to the information in the Certificate of Authenticity. These parameters are reassessed over time through careful annual checks.
RESTORE THE PRISTINE CONDITION
The Classiche certification process includes a technical examination of the originality of the various mechanical components, the determining factor as to the car’s authenticity. Any parts that do not correspond to the original specifications are replaced with spare parts offered by Ferrari and its official partners, to restore the car to its pristine condition.
The service is not limited to the most common spare parts. If necessary Ferrari Classiche can create castings identical to the originals and also provide structural parts.
With the help of strict quality controls and the ability to identify the design of all models in the historical archives, a classic car will maintain the same performance and level of safety.
The restoration of a historic Ferrari is a complex operation that can only be performed at Maranello and, soon, at the company’s new Classiche Workshops.
The complexity arises from a very particular design philosophy. Since the early days Ferrari has cut no corners in designing a car’s components in order to achieve performance excellence.
By virtue of this approach, the mechanical parts have always benefited from cutting-edge designs and futuristic solutions, just as the engine and body have always been built with special materials.
