The Veloce, Schnell & Fast Sports Car Collection, The Don Williams Estate Collection and a 1963 Shelby 289 Cobra Roadster (Lot S125) are just a few of the selections to headline the superb array of classics, supercars, European sports cars and more consigned to the Monterey Car Week Daytime Auction: Mecum Monterey 2023, which marks the return of the world’s largest collector car auction company to the Del Monte Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa in Monterey, California, this Aug. 17-19.
An estimated 600 classic and collector vehicles are expected to cross the auction block in total, along with approximately 100 vintage and antique motorcycles with live coverage broadcast on MotorTrendTV and the Discovery Channel.
A selection of 12 Ferraris, seven Porsches and four Austin-Healeys are among the 26 European sports cars to be offered from The Veloce, Schnell & Fast Sports Car Collection. A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C Alloy Berlinetta (Lot F84) boasts an original 3285cc Colombo V-12 engine bearing No. 8157, the same as its chassis, and it’s one of 80 Ferrari 275 GTBs built with aluminum long-nose coachwork by Scaglietti. A 1963 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series II (Lot F86) is one of 22 long-wheelbase Series II cars built from 1962-64 and wears Chassis and Engine No. 4651. Pacing the Porsches is a 1956 Porsche 356A 1500 GS Carrera Speedster (Lot F96) with Chassis No. 82190 and Engine No. 90641 that is a type 547/1 Carrera with a 1498cc 4-cam flat-4 engine along with a 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster (Lot F97) with a 1600cc flat-4 engine, a Speedster body by Reutter and very rare Rudge knock-off wheels.
The Mike and Debbie Rogers Datsun Collection features eight wonderfully restored models of the Japanese sports car led by a 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z432 (Lot S82) that is one of just 299 produced from 1969-70 and one of even fewer imported to the U.S. Restored once in Japan and another time in London, this Z432 won Best of Show at the Nashville ZCON in 2021. A 1969 Datsun 240Z (Lot S84) has Serial No. 193 and is one of only 195 1969 production 240Zs still known to exist per the 1969 production registry at zhome.com.
Options for in-person, telephone and internet bidding start at $100, offering bidders the opportunity to get in on the auction action in whichever way suits them best.
