A MEETING OF BEAUTIFUL and MOST BEAUTIFUL presented in a dreamlike scenery. Exquisite vehicles at the “Golden Gate to the Tegernsee”.
For the 19th time, this Concours d’Élégance will be hosted as the FIVA-A event “Grand Prix of Germany”. For the 4th time at the Tegernsee, in a dreamlike alpine scenery, this concours has established itself.
The Concours as the “Grand Prix of Germany” was originally planned as a summer event for RETRO CLASSICS® Stuttgart. In the meantime, RETRO CLASSICS® Stuttgart and Bavaria have developed into trade fairs for driving culture and the Concours d’Élégance has also adapted to the concept. Classic cars, youngtimers and NEO CLASSICS® will be presented in a picture-perfect setting in the lakeside garden of the excellent Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt.
Up until the 19th century, aesthetics was the study of beauty and harmony in nature and art. Nothing better describes the spirit of the Concours d’Élégance at Tegernsee, now in its fourth edition. Beautiful, and indeed extravagant, vehicles form a unity with the magnificent panorama of the lake and the mountain scenery.
The most beautiful vehicles can be seen and admired at this event. The Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt provides a magnificent and uniquely elegant setting for this event.
The Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee is a meeting of collectors and lovers of special automobiles. A competition of the first order for design, originality, beauty and historical roots. Each one is a work of automotive art in its own way and has its own individual history. And just as individual is the unique, elegant ambience offered by the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, rightly described by many guests as the “Golden Gateway to Lake Tegernsee”. This exquisite composition makes the Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee a highlight in the calendar of car enthusiasts and aesthetes.
Admission to the Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee is exclusively by application and after final approval by the selection committee. The number of participants is limited to a total of 50 vehicles of all brands, types and years of construction. The independent and top-class jury is composed of internationally renowned and experienced trade journalists, renowned automobile historians and technicians, designers with big names from various manufacturers. The jury is chaired by Prof. h.c. Dr. h.c. Peter Pfeiffer, former Senior Vice President Design “Mercedes-Benz”, also President of the German Design Council from 2007 to 2021.
Despite the changeable weather, Saturday was dedicated to the presentation of the vehicles around the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt and the evaluation of the participants’ vehicles in the various classes by the jury. At the end of the day, after a champagne welcome, the participants were treated to a social evening with musical entertainment, magic tricks by Tombeck and regional delicacies -an evening among like-minded people and with lively “petrol talks” followed by a drink at the bar.
The crowning finale of the 4th Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee traditionally takes place on Sunday: the excitement is within reach when the winner’s trophies are awarded in the various vehicleclasses. The “Best of Show” category rounded off this top event in a suitable manner. The winner in the NEO CLASSICS® division was the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss Edition driven by Klaus Kienle. The winner in the classic car sector was the DelageD6 built in 1929 by Till von der Hellen.
