An amazing 35,408 buyers and enthusiasts visited the 29th edition of the InterClassics Show over the last few days. Once again, the Maastricht classic car fair managed to attract more visitors than the previous edition. Over 300 classic car dealers showcased cars rarely seen by the outside world. The many ‘Sold’ signs seen on the show floor are proof that the event couldn’t start early enough for car buyers either.
The event has grown to become one of the most prominent classic-car shows in Europe. This edition placed a special focus on Ford, presenting the sporty history of the American brand in the form of 28 race- and sports cars. The Sim Expo gave race-happy visitors the chance to personally experience how it feels to drive a race car. Simulator manufacturers also showed off their latest technologies. Racing legends Arie Luyendyk and Jeroen Bleekemolen were also at the fair for a meet & greet session.
More than 300 leading car dealers were there to sell exclusive vintage cars and youngtimers, and the many ‘sold’ signs dominated the show floor. More and more visitors are hearing about the fair, both from home and abroad. Nico Aaldering of The Gallery explains: ‘InterClassics can hold its own amongst international fairs such as those held in Paris and Essen. It offers great diversity, and is always vibrant with lots of hustle and bustle. The hall is also beautifully decorated and the quality of the cars has visibly improved. It’s obvious that changes have been made, and you simply can’t stay away.
In addition to classic car dealers, official brand dealers were also represented on the show floor. Bentley Maastricht and Ferrari dealer Munsterhuis Sportscars were also present and accounted for at MECC Maastricht. For Porsche Centrum Gelderland, this was their first time at the fair. Director Mark Wegh tells us more. ‘It’s the ultimate fair for the Netherlands and border countries Germany and Belgium; you just have to be there. For us, it was super successful and clearly the place to be.
The score was so high that we will definitely be back next year.’ Don’t be fooled by these rave reviews: you don’t have to be a car buyer to have a great day out at InterClassics. Automotive journalist Wouter Karssen spent two days there, and shared his thoughts on BNR Nieuwsradio’s National Car Show: ‘Walking around InterClassics is always fun. You can see everything here: from very special —very expensive—cars to more affordable models. From youngtimer to true classic, there’s something here for everyone. A visit is absolutely worthwhile.’ Anniversary edition The organisers are busy preparing for the 30th edition of the fair which will be held at MECC Maastricht from Thursday, 16 through Sunday, 19 January 2025. The theme is not yet known; exhibition manager Erik Panis said the team is still working on it.
