Most Ferraris already ask quite a lot of their owners. Attention. Restraint. A certain degree of confidence when parking. This Ferrari SF90 XX Spider takes all of that to an even more extreme level.
This is what happens when Ferrari decides not only to develop a model from its XX program for the track, but then also makes it fully road legal. The SF90 already provided an extraordinary technical starting point. A plug-in hybrid Ferrari with a mid-mounted V8, three electric motors, all-wheel drive, and a combined output that broke through the 1,000-horsepower barrier. The name SF90 referred to ninety years of Scuderia Ferrari, and the car was presented as a new technological flagship for the marque.
The SF90 XX Spider goes even further. It uses the same fundamental recipe, but sharpens the character considerably. More power, more aerodynamics, more focus, and above all, far more presence. Combined output stands at 1,030 horsepower.
The powertrain consists of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 supported by three electric motors. Together, they create a drivetrain that is not only immensely powerful, but exceptionally intelligent as well. The SF90 XX Spider can drive on electric power alone. And then it can transform into something that very strongly suggests silence was merely a temporary form of politeness.
The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts at lightning speed, while the hybrid system delivers immediate response. There is no old-fashioned moment of waiting. The SF90 XX Spider reacts instantly.
Aerodynamics play at least as important a role in this car as power. The SF90 XX was developed as one of the most aerodynamically efficient road-legal Ferraris ever created. The body features a fixed rear wing. In Spider form, the story becomes even more interesting. The open version adds an electrically retractable hardtop without genuinely softening the character of the XX. In other words, you get the engineering and aerodynamics of a Ferrari designed in part for circuit use, but with the ability to open the roof and experience the sound of the V8 even more directly.
This example dates from 2024 and is finished in Rosso Corsa with a black Alcantara interior. The cabin is also equipped with Daytona seats. That keeps the atmosphere unmistakably Ferrari. Focused and sporting, without losing the sense that you are still sitting in a very special Ferrari indeed.
The Spider is also equipped with Programme Special Equipment. This is intended for customers who do not simply order a car, but are first invited to make choices that go a step beyond the standard options list. What you are buying, therefore, is also a configuration further specified through Ferrari’s own program.
Only 599 examples of the SF90 XX Spider were built. All were allocated to customers in advance. This example has covered dealer mileage only. In practical terms, that means you will probably be the first owner to actually drive it properly.
