Within Ferrari’s history there are a few models that immediately capture the attention of enthusiasts and collectors. The Ferrari 599 GTO undoubtedly belongs to that group. It is a car derived from Ferrari’s program of track focused models and subsequently adapted for use on public roads.
The foundation for the 599 GTO lies with the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. This model was introduced in 2006 as the successor to the 575M Maranello and for many years represented Ferrari’s front engine V12 grand tourer. The design immediately stood out with its long hood, compact cabin and distinctive rear section featuring the characteristic flying buttresses.
In 2010 Ferrari introduced a remarkable version of this model: the 599 GTO. The name GTO had previously been used only a few times in Ferrari’s history and traditionally refers to models with a distinctly sporting character. Famous examples include the Ferrari 250 GTO and the Ferrari 288 GTO.
The engineering of the 599 GTO is closely related to the Ferrari 599XX, a model developed by Ferrari specifically for customers who intended to use their cars exclusively on the racetrack. For the GTO this concept was adapted for use on public roads.
Beneath the hood lies a 6.0 liter V12 producing approximately 670 horsepower. The engine is paired with Ferrari’s F1 transmission offering multiple shift programs. Combined with the revised chassis and the extensive use of lightweight materials this results in an exceptionally direct driving experience. When it comes to driving impressions the conclusion is simple: this is a dream. The character of this GTO can only truly be described as that of a road going racer.
The example offered here also has a particularly interesting background. This Ferrari was personalized by its first owner in collaboration with Carrozzeria Zanasi, a name that has been closely associated with Ferrari in Maranello for decades. The company became involved with Ferrari projects in 1964 and gradually developed into an important partner of the manufacturer.
For this Ferrari a unique and tasteful specification was chosen. The body is finished in Bianco Perla Fuji Opaco with satin brown racing stripes. In addition several details are executed in brown carbon fiber, giving this 599 GTO a truly striking and elegant appearance.
This Ferrari has been maintained exclusively by authorized Ferrari specialists and is delivered with its original documentation and books. The history of the car is fully documented.
When considering the combination of the GTO concept, the limited production of the model and the personal Zanasi specification, it becomes clear that this is a Ferrari with a very distinctive character within the 599 series. A powerful V12 grand tourer finished with exceptional attention to detail and created with the involvement of a name long connected with Ferrari in Maranello.
