Pendine is delighted to offer this exceptional 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Coupe, a matching-numbers example finished in opalescent dark grey over black trim. First sold in March 1966 by Henleys of London, this Home Market car has been meticulously restored and tastefully upgraded to enhance its performance, reliability, and usability, while maintaining its original charm.

The comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration was completed over several years by renowned restorer Peter Chambers. Peter, who has a background in historic race car restoration, undertook this project for his father, who owned the car from 1987 until its sale in 2014. Chambers’ restoration included a new bonnet, door skins, outer sills, rear quarters, and a bare-metal respray in Jaguar metallic grey cellulose. The result is a body that looks as good as new and has been treated with Wax oil for long-term preservation.

Mechanically, the car has been fully overhauled, including a rebuilt engine, gearbox, and rear axle with new bearings and seals. The brakes have been upgraded with Coopercraft callipers and Series 2 E-Type components at the rear. The suspension features adjustable Koni shocks, a front anti-roll bar, and a solid-mounted steering rack and rear subframe for improved handling. Additional enhancements include a bespoke wiring loom, stainless steel exhaust, braided fuel lines with a modern electric pump, an electric cooling fan, and Borrani wheels. The car also boasts a fully renewed interior with new seats, carpets, and trim.

Since the restoration was completed in 2016, the Jaguar has covered approximately 3,000 miles and has been expertly maintained by Hardy Hall Restorations and Guy Broad. Recent updates include Michelin XVS tyres, a new brake servo, silicone water hoses, Aldon electronic ignition, and a re-cored radiator. The car underwent a pre-sale inspection, full service, and detailing by marque specialist Guy Broad, with invoices totalling nearly ÂŁ6,000, ensuring it is in superb condition and ready for its next owner to enjoy.

This E-Type is accompanied by a jack, tool roll, various continental touring spares, and extensive documentation. With its tasteful upgrades and thorough restoration, it represents a fantastic opportunity for its next owner.

The car is available now for viewing and demonstration at Pendine’s Bicester Heritage showroom.
