1964 Cobra 289 Roadster

Grand Prix Classics

Grand Prix Classics is offering this Cobra 289 Roadster for sale. 1aaa

History: Shelby factory records show that CSX2365 was billed to Shelby American on 3/5/64. Shipped to Los Angeles on the “SS Byrne”. It was then invoiced on 5/18/64 to Williams Ford of West Hartford, Connecticut. The original color was red and the interior black.

A rack and pinion 289 with full road equipment. Ten owners later and still in remarkably original condition with no accidents and reasonably low miles. It is purchased in 2013 by Richard Griot of Griots Garage in Tacoma, Washington.

Richard undertakes a multiyear long detailed and complete restoration with J and L Fabricators and completes the finishing touches in his own shop. It is acquired by Grand Prix Classics in 2021, who sells it to a client in Atlanta, Georgia. After three years and little use, it is now offered for sale at Grand Prix Classics.

Condition: A genuine survivor Cobra, still with its original frame, body, engine, and other components. Having undergone an extensive several year complete restoration costing well over $350,000, it is now one of the nicest 289 Cobras of the 500 odd originally built. Original 289 engine and Borg Warner T10 gearbox. Proper frame stamping, vin stampings in the latches on the front hood and rear deck lid. Original Shelby vin tag. The restoration is documented with numerous photographs from beginning to end. CSX2365 is complete with jack, grease gun, soft top and side curtains.

Of Note: Recorded in the SAAC registry. Has original Shelby invoices and bill of sale. Known ownership from new. An original Cobra, restored with its original body, engine, gearbox and major components to the highest level. Ready to win a concours, drive in a Cobra tour, or just be enjoyed as one of the all-American greatest sports cars.
