1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé
Highlights:
• According to the available Mercedes-Benz car card and delivery bill, the car left the Sindelfingen plant on April 7, 1955, and was then delivered first by rail and then by ship from Antwerp to the Mercedes-Benz sales organization in New York, USA
• the additional special equipment ex works included: a special high-gloss paint finish, instruments with English lettering, sealed beam headlights, bumpers with horns and a windshield washer system
• According to HK-Engineering’s records, this is one of only 108 coupés produced in total in the delivery color black, also very rarely with a red checkered interior in combination with cream-colored Texleder (only about 14% were ever ordered in gabardine red checkered L2)
• the available register excerpts show that the car had only 3 owners in the USA until 1996 and was last in the same ownership for 25 years
• after the import from the USA at the end of the 90s, a complete restoration with overhaul of all components took place – the mileage to date has been less than 4,500 kilometers since then
• Particularly noteworthy is the very good original substance with matching numbers of all essential components (chassis, body, engine as well as front axle, rear axle, transmission and steering gear) and existing three piece body panels
• Extensive restoration in 2023/24 at HK-ENGINEERING with new paintwork in delivery color and technical overhaul in the amount of 300,000 euros
