Allard launched the K3 in 1953 as a completely new design, featuring a chassis built from stacked chromoly tubes reinforced with steel plates. With a 100 inch wheelbase it was both lighter and stronger than earlier Allard’s with a more streamlined, aluminium enveloped body. Engine options were listed as British Ford, American Mercury, Cadillac, and Chrysler. The car was offered at $ 5300 – two and a half times the price J2 – and most were exported to the USA. Only 62 cars were built.

Chassis K3319 left the London docks for America on May 14th 1953, finished in Red with Black leather. The first owner, Mr. F. Porter in Chicago, ordered it with a Cadillac engine and an overdrive gearbox. The K3 remained in the United States with several owners recorded during its lifetime until 2006, when it was purchased by its current owner.

By this time ,the Allard had been fully restored and was in fast road/touring specification. The car at some stage in its life had lost its original Cadillac engine and a Chrysler Hemi had been fitted in its place.

On its arrival to the UK the Allard underwent a full transformation to FIA historic racing specification. This involved a complete rebuild of the car, sourcing a correct Cadillac engine and many, many hours of research to ensure the car was both correct for FIA papers and competitive in its class.

A unique and well known sports racer in UK club racing, this K3 has had a long and active race history since its arrival from the United States. Presented with current FIA papers until 2029, chassis K33179 is an ideal candidate for 50s sports car racing as well as road/regularity events.

The K3 comes with an extensive history file of research and documentation on both the car itself and the Allard K3 model, filled with detailed information on preparing and running the car in historic racing.

Certain to be the only example on the grid, this K3 is a great way to stand out from the crowd in historic races.
