This past weekend, Brussels Expo hosted the 9th edition of InterClassics Brussels across three Heysel exhibition halls and the Patio. With 23,000 visitors, the diverse car show matched the attendance figures from two years ago. “The exclusive Preview Night on Thursday evening continues to be a hit, welcoming more table guests year after year.
For the first time in the history of InterClassics Brussels, more cars were sold and new ones introduced at various exhibitors’ stands than ever before. Satisfaction abounds, both among exhibitors and our visitors, who appreciated the specially curated Patio featuring exclusive Maserati models to celebrate the Italian sports car brand’s 110th anniversary. Next year will be special as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of InterClassics Brussels, a milestone that will not go unnoticed,” said exhibition manager Erik Panis.
Trump effect
Anyone walking around InterClassics Brussels this past weekend would have noticed numerous cars marked with “Sold” or “Vendu” signs. “We don’t yet have exact figures, but based on the feedback from exhibitors, we can confidently say that this was an exceptionally successful 9th edition for collectors and enthusiasts of classic cars, old- and young-timers, or supercars. Never before have we seen so many cars sold. The election of Donald Trump has — much like the stock market — brought about a shift among our buyers. Recently, the automotive market experienced a slump; auctions underperformed, and sold cars fetched less than expected. However, it seems that the turnaround began in Brussels, with people enthusiastically returning to purchasing or investing in tangible assets like classic cars. A charming feature of the show is that engines are often started before a sale is finalized. Test drives are not possible, but a smoothly running engine provides enough confidence for buyers to sign on the dotted line. The roar of many 6, 8, and 12-cylinder engines proved that the car trade is bouncing back, much to our satisfaction as organizers,” said Erik Panis.
Unique sales
Among the 300 exhibitors were professional car dealers, restorers, private sellers, and traders in automobilia, such as model cars, parts, and art. On Saturday, Rock ’n Roll Classics sold a rare Fiat 514S to a Czech visitor who purchased several cars at InterClassics Brussels. The value of the Italian car: €355,000. At Marreyt Classics, a new owner was found for another Italian gem, a Siata 500 Record from 1938, which will now join a Belgian private collection. Value: €375,000. Also sold was the unique 1954 Jaguar XK 120 OTS, discovered by Rudy Joris (JWS Classic Cars) in a field in Ontario, Canada.
In Hall 6, alongside many classic cars, a few Formula 1 vehicles also changed hands. Belgian dealer Officina Caira offered four used F1 cars, including the Red Bull Sauber driven by Jean Alesi and Johnny Herbert. This car, which competed in the 1998 F1 Championship, was sold in running condition.
The 10th InterClassics Brussels will take place from Thursday, November 14, to Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Brussels Expo. The classic car show traditionally attracts more than 23,000 buyers and enthusiasts. For more information about the event, visit www.interclassics.events.
