Singer Vehicle Design, located in Torrance, California, started from humble beginnings with its first restoration presented at Monterey, California’s annual Car Week, where the first restored 964-based Singer rocked the automotive community. The 911-based “Recommission” quickly sparked a frenzy of orders that spanned over the course of 13 years, with lead times often in the multiple of years to get a customized example. Later the Design Lightweight Study (DLS) was introduced, increasing the use of carbon fiber, magnesium, and titanium, along with an 500hp naturally-aspirated engine developed with Williams Advanced Engineering. Then, in 2022, Singer revealed a widely anticipated variant to the world, finally bringing turbocharging to their series of recommissions: The Singer Classic Turbo.

This Singer Turbo Classic recommission, completed in 2025, was specified in the Liquid Silver Metallic color over its carbon fiber body panels with a cream white leather interior. Spec’d in the Touring trim, this Singer was created with the 450hp 3.8L twin-turbo flat six engine, and the Touring interior which includes the Singer heritage seats that pay homage to the original Porsche 930 Turbo. A 6-speed manual transmission routes power to only the rear wheels.

This Singer Classic Turbo vehicle is in new, unused condition. It has never been delivered to a customer, with only 585 miles added to the odometer during Singer’s testing and QA processes before delivery.

Now available publicly for the first time, this Singer Classic Turbo is a testament to Singer’s driven focus on making some of the most intriguing and tasteful recommissions of Porsche vehicles. With beautiful elegant designs that not only pay homage to the original historic cars but also drawn from Singer’s own design language, this 3.8L twin-turbo flat six Classic Singer is ready to be enjoyed to the fullest.

About the Singer Classic Turbo

With the reveal of Singer’s Classic Turbo, a new era of recommissions was about to begin. With customers stating that they wanted more power, but also a new style of body, it was clear to Singer that a homage to the 930, with its wide rear fenders and turbocharged air-cooled engine, was the answer. The same Singer “Everything Is Important” mantra is still present throughout the vehicle, but this new generation was redesigned from the ground up. Singer wanted to take the Turbo Classic to the next level, both from a design perspective but also reliability.

They required a bespoke Bosch traction management system that required Singer to send an entire vehicle to be tested in wet, dry, snow, and other traction conditions. Singer wanted to be approved by TÜV, where a car was sent to Germany to be driven approximately 3,000 kilometers to pass the certification that it was safe for German (and later, European) roads. All in the quest of improving their commissions.

The Turbo Classic’s body panels are made from lightweight carbon fiber, including the wide rear wheel arches that famously displayed the “shark fin”, now cleverly disguised as air intakes for the newly-developed engine. Singer’s utilized their new 3.8L twin-turbocharged engine with air-to-water intercooling, now creating 450 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.

Utilizing Porsche 992 turbochargers with updated technology including variable veins, this allowed for Singer to tune the vehicle to drive exceptionally well with plenty of power, but was sure to include some of the nostalgic “turbo lag” that was so indicative of the original 930. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Turbo Classic could be specified in either Touring or Sport configurations which brought different options for each. The Touring specification included a more compliant ride better suited for longer drives, along with seats that clearly show the 930’s heritage in a more modern design.

The Sport gained an extra 60 horsepower, along with lightweight carbon fiber seats, carbon ceramic brakes, lightweight door trim, sports-calibrated suspension, and more. Fit and finishes are exactly what you would expect, from jewel-like instruments to ergonomically thought-out interior functions and elegant touch points, to the tasteful exterior updates and integrations that a keen eye will catch and appreciate the callbacks to the original Porsche Turbo.

As is the Singer way, the customizations allowed are endless. Whether that be specific colors or finishes, unique features, or even bespoke designs, Singer will do it for a customer willing to go through the process. With the Classic Turbo making its first deliveries in 2024, it now replaces the Singer “Classic”, which Singer stopped taking orders in 2022 capping total production at 450 vehicles.
