The Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup – the series of three-hour endurance races – offers a thrilling challenge for historic racers this season. With three races scheduled in 2024 covering the start, middle and end of the season, don’t miss the chance to race in this great contest.
In a move that is bound to prove popular with all teams, Motor Racing Legends have reviewed the race regulations and are pleased to announce an important change in the race format.
Entries in the Pall Mall Cup are open to two or three-driver teams, and during the race they must undertake a minimum of two pit stops.
Previously, the pit stop regulations mandated a five-minute duration stop whether making a driver-change, checking a mechanical issue or re-fuelling.
New for this season, a stop for any other reason than a re-fuel has been changed to a minimum stationary duration of 60 seconds. The five-minute minimum pit-stop time remains for any refuelling stop.
This amendment to the race format will enhance the competitive edge to the race – tactics can be honed and frustratingly long pit stops now limited.
The organizer is grateful to the MSVR for their help in enabling this change, but please remember that pit stop durations and related activity will be closely monitored by marshals and penalties will be applied for any pit stop violations.
Entries have been open for a while now, and entry forms are already coming through thick and fast for the season. The race calendar for the 2024 Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup is as follows:
- Donington Historic Festival 4 – 5 May
- Snetterton Classic 29 – 30 June
- MRL Silverstone GP 19 – 20 October
All 2024 races are scheduled with a Saturday morning 50-minute qualifying session followed by a mid-afternoon three-hour race.
Races are open to Pre ’66 GT and Touring Cars, Pre-’63 GT Cars and Pre ’61 Sports Cars. A wide range of cars are eligible for the race from 1950s Sports Racing Cars to MGBs and Shelby Daytona Cobras. Ford Falcons and Mustangs are welcome as well as a host of other Touring Cars, even a Lotus Cortina or even a Mini Cooper if you are brave enough! Pre ’66 GTP cars under 2001cc are also eligible.
