Amid concerns over the global COVID-19 pandemic, the South Florida sale was quickly shifted into a time-based digital auction via RM Sotheby’s Online Only platform, inviting bidders to take part from the comfort and safety of their homes. There clients and friends responded the only way car enthusiasts know how: with the gas pedal to the floor.
Nearly 900 bidders—36 percent of them new RM Sotheby’s bidders—from 44 countries viewed over 615,000 pages related to the auction on RM Sotheby’s website in just seven days, which resulted in $13.7 million in total sales and 69 percent of all lots finding new owners. Sales were led by a 1996 Porsche 911 GT2 and a 2019 McLaren Senna.
