From November 26 to 30, the second edition of the Mille Miglia Experience China took place – an event that is rapidly gaining international attention. HK-Engineering was honored to follow an invitation issued months in advance by the Federation of Classic Car China, which placed great value on having a renowned representative of the global classic-car scene participate with an iconic vehicle.

The background: Importing classic cars into China remains extremely challenging, and road registration is currently considered impossible. The Federation is actively working to reduce these barriers and open the market in the long term. This made it all the more significant that a Gullwing from our workshop would be part of the event. Coordination for providing a 300 SL Gullwing restored by us several years ago was therefore remarkably straightforward.
Our vehicle received overwhelming enthusiasm from Chinese collectors and attracted significant attention throughout the entire event. Around 100 vehicles – primarily from Hong Kong – participated in the five-day tour, which led through impressive landscapes and impressed with carefully selected hotels and culinary highlights.

Hans Kleissl used the opportunity to establish valuable connections with influential figures in China’s classic-car community, which is currently still focused mainly on younger collector vehicles. The warm welcome extended to our team and the overall positive atmosphere of the event demonstrated the strong momentum building in this emerging market – even if it may take a few more years for events of this kind to reach full international standards.

China is expected to open its market for classic vehicles by 2027. The enthusiasm we experienced fills us with optimism: it will undoubtedly have a positive long-term impact on the global classic-car market as well.

HK-Engineering aims to actively support and shape this development – and we are confident that our presence in China will increase significantly in the years ahead. Our participation for 2026 is already firmly planned. Those interested in joining us next year are warmly invited to reach out early.
