How to beat the Porsches was the big question at the 1969 24-hour race at Spa. Mercedes sent three 300 SEL 6.3 but could not start the race as their tyres were too poor. A Chevrolet Camaro led, but its starter motor failed.
Hubert Hahne, BMW 2002 Turbo, 24 h Spa-Francorchamps 1969
BMW had their new 2002 Turbo for Hubert Hahne and Dieter Quester which led right after the start until its head gasket blew. Thus the Porsches took the first four places with Guy Chasseuil/Claude Ballot-Lena claiming the win.
