The French Grand Prix tended to move from one circuit to another. In 1965 it was held on the Circuit de Charade near Clermont-Ferrand. This featured a lap of eight kms and took place in rather dull weather.

Honda sent two RA272s for Richie Ginther and Ronnie Bucknum (28) but neither finished the race. Bob Andersson in his Brabham BT11 (30) was the last of the only nine cars to be classified despite the fact that he spun off the track shortly before the finish and lost a wheel.
