The 1000 km of Buenos Aires of 1960 was the first round of the World Sports Car Championship and therefore Ferrari sent three of their 250 Testa Rossas to the event and Porsche countered with three 718 RSK.

From the USA, the Camoradi team sent a Maserati Tipo 61 for Dan Gurney and Masten Gregory (who is seen here). The Americans retired due to gearbox failure at two-thirds of the distance while the Ferraris scored an easy 1-2.
