A new generation of collectors: The vehicle market for collectors is steadily rejuvenating. No wonder, because modern sports cars, hypercars, NEO CLASSICS & Co. also arouse emotions in a younger generation of collectors.
These cars also include the Audi R8 and, in particular, the special editions that have been presented since the start of R8 production in 2006. Three exclusive R8 from different special editions are now for sale at the SML CarGroup in Eberdingen near Stuttgart. The highlight: All three cars have the production number 01 from the special series, have only been registered once on Audi AG and impress with their low mileage and their practically new condition. The three R8 are for sale either collectively in a package or separately.
With its production in 2011, the Audi R8 GT is the oldest car in the collection. But not a bit “dusty”. As a tightening of the very first R8 model, Audi presented the R8 GT CoupĂ©, limited to 333 pieces, in 2010. 35 hp more and 100 kilos less ballast made the R8 stronger, lighter and faster. The GT has a badge with its production number on the gear knob. Here the number 001. Together with the low mileage of just 4,287 km and the stylish paintwork in matt white, this makes this R8 a coveted collector’s item.
Audi R8: A new generation of collectors
The 570 hp Audi R8 LMX seems even sharper. Only 99 pieces were produced by the LMX in 2014. The R8 LMX was the first production vehicle with laser light. It shines in a exklusive ara-blue paintwork and impresses with a fixed CFRP rear spoiler. In addition, the side flics, the exterior mirror housings as well as the front spoiler lip, the sideblades and the diffuser are made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic in a matt finish. Sports exhaust system, grill and air intake grille shine in titanium gray. In the interior, black Alcantara and leather are accentuated by blue contrasting stitching. The driver can find the limited signature (number 01 of 99) on the door sill. The number 01 was personally configured in its current configuration by ex-Audi CEO Rupert Stadler and has only been moved 230 km until now.
The third car in the collection, the Audi R8 Spyder Sport 30 is a very rare example because the “Edition 30” is almost unknown even among Audi insiders. It was launched for the 2015 Le Mans 24-hour race and comprises 30 fully equipped vehicles. The number 01 on the door sill is adorned with the original signature of Tom Kristensen. This very special R8 was used together with the other vehicles from this small special series for various events and as part of customer events as an Audi Experience car. With a mileage of only around 8,400 kilometers, the vehicle is in absolutely new condition. The R8 Spyder guarantees pure driving pleasure, both at high speeds and when cruising with the top down.
