This remarkable 300 SL Coupé holds a special place in the Mercedes-Benz history books as it is the very first Gullwing to be delivered to private hands in Europe. Not only is it one of the very early examples, but it also proudly took part in the 1955 Helsinki Grand Prix. It was able to break the ice record and drove over 188 km/h on ice.
Originally painted silver and fitted with blue leather and checkered fabric inserts, the car was delivered by rail to Philipsons Automobil in Stockholm on October 25, 1954. HK Engineering has known the vehicle for some time and restored it extensively in the late 90s.
The 300 SL Coupe is still in good condition today, has retained its original paint color and has a striking red interior. It is currently undergoing a thorough maintenance in the HK Engineering workshop to prepare the vehicle for many more trips.
