Ford really had nothing left to prove at Le Mans in 2016. The brand had already made history there fifty years earlier with the GT40. But that was precisely why Ford decided to return. Not with a retro-inspired car focused mainly on the past, but with an entirely new GT developed from the outset with racing in mind. And the best part? Ford won at Le Mans again, exactly fifty years after its famous 1966 victory. That story alone makes the modern Ford GT special. But the Carbon Series takes things one step further.

Ford introduced this version as a lighter and more focused evolution of the regular GT. Weight was reduced through measures including a titanium exhaust system, titanium wheel nuts, carbon-fiber wheels, and a polycarbonate rear hatch. At the same time, the car remained fully road legal and retained features such as air conditioning, a radio, and the SYNC3 system. In other words, exactly the right balance: less weight where it matters, without turning the car into something that can only be used on a racetrack.

The Carbon Series is also immediately recognizable. Exposed carbon fiber runs as striping across the body and reappears on elements such as the A-pillars, the lower sections of the doors, and throughout the interior. This example is finished in Shadow Black with exposed carbon, and the combination works exceptionally well.

It is estimated that only around fifty Carbon Series examples were built. That makes this version particularly scarce even within the already limited production run of the modern Ford GT. This Ford GT was ordered and delivered new in Europe and has covered just 1,500 kilometers. Its condition is therefore virtually exactly what you would expect from a car with such minimal mileage.

Beneath the bodywork lies perhaps the most interesting part of the story. The modern GT was developed around a carbon-fiber monocoque and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. It was not chosen to sound nostalgic, but because Ford wanted to build a car that could genuinely compete at the highest level. That gives the GT something very special: it looks exotic, but the engineering is above all functional.

The proportions, the open air channels, the low seating position, and the active rear wing were not designed simply to create a poster car. They are there because that is what the car needed in order to work. And precisely because of that, it ultimately became a poster car anyway.

With just 1,500 kilometers, European delivery, Shadow Black with exposed carbon, and the exceptionally rare Carbon Series specification, this is exactly the kind of Ford GT that belongs in a serious collection.

Gallery Aaldering is a family owned business since 1975. Founder Nico Aaldering and his son Nick are responsible for operational and executive management. The company has been in Brummen since 1987 and started on the location where they currently have their second workshop and detailing shop. Nico started very small, with only three employees. People who still work for the company today. The company grew rapidly and established a name for itself based on quality. In the nineties it was time for expansions after many years of selling Alfa Romeo, then Italian cars later on followed by British cars as well. At the end of 2000 Gallery Aaldering moved to the current premises at the Arnhemsestraat in Brummen. This showroom was build according to Nico's idea and sketches and has a Neoclassical style to match the classic cars inside. During this time Nick entered the company after finishing his studies and working for different automotive companies. Gallery Aaldering expanded and gained momentum with the decades of experience offered by Nico and the bright new ideas and progressive vision offered by Nick. The collection became more diverse with an important move upwards to higher segments. Gallery Aaldering has grown to become one of the largest classic car dealers in Europe.
