Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector-car auction company, will return to State Farm Stadium for its second-annual event in Glendale, Arizona, this March 11-14 with an estimated 1,500 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more expected to cross the auction block, as well as more than 500 Road Art items and 120 collectible guitars.
New this year, in addition to the auction itself, Mecum will present Sunset Sessions Food and Music Festival following the auction action on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14. The on-site concert and culinary experience will feature unlimited food and beverages prepared by award-winning celebrity chefs and headlining performances by alternative rock group Lifehouse and country music and pop star Billy Ray Cyrus. Ticket purchases for Sunset Sessions include complimentary admission to the auction.
Among the featured vehicles currently consigned for Mecum Glendale 2020 is a 2019 McLaren Senna (Lot S110), one of just 500 produced. The modern supercar boasts several special features added by McLaren Special Operations’ Bespoke service, including a significant upgrade to gloss Visual Carbon Fiber (VCF) exterior body components finished in Pure Black and protected by Race Package XPEL Ultimate Plus clear film.
Other main attraction consignments include a one-of-three remaining 2017 Ford GT Competition Series (Lot S117) with just 265 miles, owned by famed driver Sebastien Bourdais—the GTE class winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. Bourdais specially ordered the car and took delivery just in time for Christmas in 2017. Private collection offerings include a large selection of vintage Cadillacs and more from collector Marty Nelson, as well as The Dennis Zentner Collection, which includes two main attractions and nine desirable vehicles in total. Zentner’s 1969 Chevrolet COPO Chevelle (Lot S97) is one of only three produced in special-order Hugger Orange for the Canadian market in 1969, and it’s the only example equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. Its frame-off rotisserie restoration featured many NOS parts, and its powerplant is a COPO 9566 427/425 HP L72 V-8 engine. Also among Zentner’s assemblage is a Rallye Red 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda (Lot S103) with only three owners and a scant 2,800 original miles on its factory 4-speed.
The inaugural Mecum Glendale collector-car auction produced historic records with $39 million in sales and consignments from 37 states and two countries, and registered bidders came from 49 states and eight countries. With this year’s auction slated to deliver the added excitement of collectible guitar offerings and the exotic flavors and sounds of Sunset Sessions Food and Music Festival, Mecum Glendale 2020 is sure to achieve similar draw and overall success.
Mecum Glendale 2020 is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Bidder registration is available online in advance for $150, $200 after March 10, and it includes admission for two to the four auction days. General admission tickets are available in advance online for $20 per person, per day, and for $30 at the door and online after March 10; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission. Doors open daily at 8 a.m. with the vehicle auction beginning at 10 a.m., and portions of Mecum Glendale 2020 will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network.
