The 993 Turbo, introduced in mid-1995 as a 1996 model, continued to hold the torch of the most powerful 911 variant while continuing to improve the breed as a whole. Among the new features on the 993 Turbo was an electronically controlled viscous coupling all-wheel drive system—something Porsche had not offered on a turbocharged model since the 959 and a system that greatly improved the performance of the Turbo. Under the engine lid—now topped with a sculpted spoiler tail with downturned edges—resided the air cooled 3.6 liter flat six fed by twin KKK K16 turbos, each featuring integrated waste gates and two air-to-air intercoolers.

Combined with bigger brakes, fatter tires, a wide body and stance, specially designed ‘Technologie-Rad’ cast alloy wheels with hollow spokes, the 993 Turbo was one of the fastest cars on the planet. With all four wheels tearing into the pavement, 0-60mph came in a face melting 3.7 seconds, 100mph ticked by in 5.7 seconds, and the forward progression continued until the speedometer had crossed 180mph. Beyond just going fast in a straight line though, the car could pull up to 1.00g on the skid pad and haul to a stop from 60mph in just 111 feet. In reviewing the 993 Turbo in June of 1995, Motor Trend magazine proclaimed, “To beat this Stuttgart screamer into submission requires a force no less wieldy than the million-dollar 627-horsepower V-12 McLaren F1.”

This 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo was produced on March 20th, 1996 in Porsche’s facility in Stuttgart, Germany. Optioned in Grand Prix White with Marble Grey and Midnight Blue full leather interior, a color combination that swathes the interior in a stunning fashion where the door cards, dash, steering wheel, airbag, headliner, console, sun visors, emergency brake, and shifter are covered in leather. It also featured special-ordered wheels in white with center wheel caps for a one-of-a-kind look. In addition to a long list of standard options included with the 911 Turbo, including 18” hollow spoke wheels, a limited slip differential, premium audio, cruise control, and Litronic discharge headlights, this 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo was equipped with the following factory and “Exclusive” options:

The Turbo’s first caretaker resided in Arizona and kept the car in their possession until 2005, only driving the car approximately 2,800 miles since picking it up from the dealership. Over the next 16 years, the Turbo had 2 similarly-minded caretakers, having the car serviced at Porsche dealerships and having XPEL paint protection film applied on the front bumper, front fenders, rear side fenders, and hood to protect the all-original Grand Prix White paint.

In 2022 the Turbo arrived at Canepa with 10,284 miles on the odometer, presenting in excellent condition. Nonetheless, the car was entered into the “Canepa Difference” process which includes mechanical servicing and cosmetic detailing to a concours-level degree. The car was cleaned by hand, including the underside, ensuring that all surfaces were perfect as they were when they left the Porsche dealership in 1996. The Grand Prix White paint received a multi-step foam pad polishing, the interior areas and engine bay received similar attention to detail, ready for any concours lawn. Mechanically the car was given a clean bill of health, and it didn’t take long for its next caretaker to add it to their collection. Acquiring the car in July of 2022, they added just 199 miles during their ownership, remaining in their prized collection of automobiles in a pristine facility, explaining both the identical mechanical and cosmetic condition upon arriving back at Canepa only recently.

This 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo also includes its original owner’s manuals, service documents, tool roll, compressor, spare wheel/tire, first aid kit, front windshield shade cover, car cover, and fire extinguisher.

Porsche’s 993 Turbo generation saw itself become the most refined air-cooled sports car Porsche had ever produced. With its superior build quality, stupendous performance, and dynamic driving experience, it was the perfect sports car for every occasion. Comfortable for daily driving and enough performance to leave others in the dust, this duality of the 911 Turbo is what earned its status as one of the best sports cars, bar none. This specific 911 Turbo, with its one-of-one interior design complimenting the Grand Prix White exterior, an extensive options list, with low original miles of 10,483 and in stunning original condition, is an example that you can enjoy at any concours or driving event, turning heads along the way.
