Pulling heritage from Porsche’s original Speedster from the 1950s, the final iteration of the G-body 911 was introduced with critical acclaim. Styling cues from the original with the swept back windshield, less weight, and with a small production for the entire world, it was instantly a collector’s paradise. For simplicity and purity, there was no power steering and ABS was removed, and the engine remained naturally aspirated. However, for the 1989 model year the G-50 5-speed manual transaxle was introduced which had improved performance with a hydraulic clutch. All in all, between the design purity of exterior with the underpinnings from the last hurrah of the G-body 911, the 1989 911 Speedster is one of the purest forms of driving you can experience.

This Speedster was special ordered by Mick Williams, who was the General Manager of Stoddard, one of the first Porsche dealers in the US. Mr. Williams was also the president of the Porsche Club of America from 1975 to 1978. The speedster received tremendous number of options including multiple Porsche exclusive (Sonderwunsch) options:

L700 Black (Schwarz) Paint
LE Black leather with leatherette beltline
C02 Equipped with Catalytic converter

The Porsche exclusive options package included interior parts completed cover in leather, such as the instrument panel, control panel, locking knobs, control knobs, glove box, turn signal and wiper stalk and many more. During his ownership he ensured that the car was serviced properly and driven sparingly. Upon Mr. Williams passing in 1994, the car was sold with 5,783 miles.

Gary Simmons purchased the car in 1994 and owned it for a short time until being sold in 1995. Famous Car Collector of all-things Porsche, William “Chip” Connor purchased the speedster in March 10th, 1995. This special speedster was added in his collection. Mr. Connor went on to own the car for a total of 19 years until he decided to sell it in 2014. The speedster arrived to Canepa, where it was in immaculate condition, and was ready for the new owner.

Its most recent owner, who had the Speedster serviced at Autoscope European Car repair in Dallas, Texas. During his ownership, the car accumulated less than 500 miles in the last 4 years.

Upon arrival the car was inspected from front to back. As expected, the speedster looks like it just came out of the Porsche showroom. With the mechanical inspection and service taken care of as part of the “Canepa Difference” process, the car was treated to a complete concours-level detailing inside, outside and underside. The original Black paintwork was polished to perfection. With the rest of the car meticulously inspected, serviced and cleaned, this collector-owned Speedster is an awesome original example.
