At the core of the 1972 Porsche 911S’s allure is the monumental leap in performance engineering that defined its era. This model year heralded the introduction of a robust 2.4-liter engine, amplified by its Bosch mechanical fuel injection, thus breathing new life into the road ahead. A symbiotic partnership with the formidable Type 915 5-speed transmission, an innovation hailing from the illustrious Porsche 908 racecar, translated raw power into a symphony of controlled velocity. With a curb weight of 2,250 pounds, the 911S effortlessly ascends to a top speed of 143 mph. The legacy of this aristocratic powerhouse remains etched in the annals of automotive history, making it a cherished item in the collection of discerning enthusiasts.

The 1972 911S boasts the distinctive, instantly recognizable silhouette that Porsche enthusiasts cherish. With its iconic round headlights, sloping hood, and sloping rear end, this car is a design classic.

Chrome accents, including the door handles, side mirrors, and window trim, add a touch of elegance to the exterior. Every mechanical facet of this vintage marvel has been treated to a level of care that mirrors the precision that went into its original assembly. A meticulous attention to detail extends beyond the mechanical realm, as this 911S exterior has been consistently kept in extraordinary condition.

In 2014, Manhattan Motorsports in New York, led by Bobby Singh, undertook a comprehensive restoration of this 1972 Porsche 911S coupe. The car was disassembled, components were stripped to bare metal, and the tub was media blasted. The work included a striking repaint of its original Signal Orange, the only 1972 911 in this color, a rebuild of the five-speed manual transaxle, and refreshes of the suspension, brakes, and Bosch mechanical fuel injection for the 2.4-liter flat-six.

This also included the headliner, pillar covers, and side panels being replaced. During the restoration, the suspension was disassembled, trailing arms refinished, and the bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings, and Bilstein shocks were replaced. The brakes were overhauled at the same time, with work consisting of fitting refinished and rebuilt replacement rear calipers, refinishing the brake lines, and replacing the front rotors and pads.

The 911S model featured a unique front fascia with an integrated spoiler for the 1972 model year. This 911S comes with upgrades as well; restored 7×15” Fuchs wheels, European-specification lighting, SSI heat exchangers, and a Becker Europa stereo. Another upgrade that sets this 911 apart from the rest is the Recaro sports seats reupholstered in black leather with houndstooth inserts. Notable factory options include the round chrome driving lights.

This 1972 Porsche 911S boasts a captivating history with a lineage of five dedicated owners. The journey began with Paul Constantine, who proudly purchased it new from Porsche Manhattan in December 1971 and cherished it until 1985. Jack Laviano, owner of Laviano Jewelers, then acquired it in 1985. In 2002, attorney Paul Reisman became the third owner, later passing the torch to his son-in-law, Justin Ehrlich, in 2008. Justin embarked on a meticulous restoration with Bobby Singh at Manhattan Motor Sports, culminating in 2015. In June 2019, Craig Goodman, a retired Navy Captain with a profound love for classic Porsches, took ownership of the 911S. His ownership saw the car achieve the pinnacle of recognition at the San Diego Porsche Concours d’ Elegance in October 2019, winning the Full Concours Division and Best of Show overall!

This Porsche comes with some early receipts, service records, early restoration photos, owner’s manual/pouch, toolkit and jack, Concours d’Elegance awards, and the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. In a world where automotive marvels continue to captivate the imagination, this 911S stands as a beacon of unparalleled engineering, representing an era when excellence was the only measure. It beckons the discerning collector, the enthusiast with an appreciation for heritage and performance, to take the wheel and continue the timeless journey that began over five decades ago.
