An American legend

An iconic automobile will form the centrepiece of a large special show during the 21st Retro Classics, trade fair for driving culture, in Stuttgart from 21 to 24 April 2022: the Ford Mustang will then roll into the limelight. (L-Bank Forum/Hall 1, Stand No. 1K71).

The Ford Mustang boasts a legendary history – more than ten million units have been built over the last 58 years. The car has played a leading role in numerous films, for example in two James Bond thrillers. Steve McQueen drove a Mustang in the film “Bullit”, whose title Ford still uses today for special models. Rock’n’roll star Chuck Berry sang the praises of a red Mustang (construction year: 1966), which could only be stopped by means of a brake parachute.

Mustang Oldtimer

A dozen Mustang models will be presented during the large special show. The special show was put together by Peter Schropp, founder and owner of the company Schropp Fahrzeugtechnik in Mössingen. Schropp has specialised to date in the maintenance and tuning of Mustangs from every construction year. Why this pony car in particular? “Our original company site was located directly at the entrance to an American barracks, and the GIs brought their Mustangs to me,” said the specialist. “I was fascinated by the fact that the car was continuously improved over the course of decades, but still retained its original character as an affordable sports car for everyone.”

The blue Mustang GT (construction year: 2003) is a treasured highlight in the collection and provides both connoisseurs and enthusiasts with a detailed overview of the history of this American legend: a red convertible dating from the year 1965 will form the introduction to the documentation of all six generations right up to the present day. In addition to notchback designs, a fastback can be seen – an eye-catcher both on the road and in the exhibition hall. A Bullit model will also be exhibited.
