Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona we are proud to offer has been originally delivered in the USA. As new the Daytona Coupe was supplied in a rare livery of Grigio Ferro with a Nero/Black interior. Factory paperwork is showing that only a mere number of only 21 cars have been produced at the factory in the same
elegant colour.

The car was built for the US market and was so equipped with air-conditioning, power windows and of course an odometer in miles. Completed at the factory on May 29. 1972 the car was delivered through Chinetti-Garthwaite Inc., domiciled in Paoli, PA/USA.

By June 1975 the car was for sale with Randy Smith of High Point, North Carolina and passed through dealers FAF Motorcars of Tucker, Georgia to Spencer Folsom of nearby Pine Mountain. From Folsom the car passed to C. Lynn Abel of Atlanta. Abel advertised the car that summer in the Ferrari Club of America newsletter where it appears to have been described as supplied new, still with grey/black livery. It had covered 29,000 miles according to the ad. Within the next two years the car crossed the country to spend most of the next three decades on the west coast. Advertised by Ferrari of Los Gatos, California in May and June 1978, by this point it had gained the wire wheels it still currently wears.

The car changed hands in 1989, sold to noted collector Tom Price, owner of the most coveted of all Ferraris: a 250 GTO. Properly maintained in his ownership, the Ferrari remained there until 2005, when it spent a little over a year in the next owners custody before being acquired by the Oldenburg Family just after Pebble Beach week. Over the course of the last 8 or so years, the Daytona has been thoroughly, all the while being maintained in house. The benefit of its simple and known chain of owners is that its modest 47,000 mls odometer reading is almost certainly from new, something few cars of similarity can attest to. The low and original mileage is as well certified by the wonderful preserved condition of its interior still having the original mouse hair dashboard, leather driving seats, headliner and door side panels. It looks and smells like a wonderful and original Daytona. With the striking original livery, known history and desirable specification this is a great example of the legendary Daytona.

In 2020 the last owner decided to paint the car in its original colour of Grigio Ferro Metalizzato 106.E.8 as delivered in 1972. The work is carried out on a very high standard.

There is a Marcel Massini history report confirming its complete history and as well certifying its original mileage at 47 000 mls when it left the US in 2013. The mileage today shows 48 650 mls.

A recent test drive has shown an extremely powerful engine, wonderful shifting gears without any vibration coming from the drivetrain. It runs and drives in a way that it perfectly fulfills our expectations towards such an original Daytona with a relatively low mileage.

There was the once in a lifetime chance to acquire the old riding school of a military station built up before the first world war in 1902. That was the time when they have had the cavalry. To find a home for our prancing horses, where they used to have a riding school a hundred years ago was like drawing a red line through history. Starting from nearly nothing we restored the whole building within 2 years in the same way we have pleasure to restore a classic Ferrari. We took the whole building apart and made a nut and bolt restoration regardless of costs. As we wanted to have the colours out of the most famous italian landscape Tuscany we found a colour range between darkred, brown, orange to bright yellow. Today I would say we have found a reasonable home for the nicest and most beautiful cars in the world.
