There Is No Such Thing As Bad Weather

This year, it was important to me to continue the Goodwood experience. In 2024, it was supposed to be just as successful as in 2023, though under different circumstances. So, I packed my things and brought different equipment this time: my Sony Alpha FX30 and my Fuji X-100F.

My goal with photography is to capture emotions, and often, it’s just a single second that makes all the difference in telling a story — one that is then completed in the viewer’s mind. That’s what makes it so exciting as a photographer when you focus on details. You’re not only creating an image but also building your own brand in the process. I love it when visitors approach me and show interest in my work.

However, the weather didn’t cooperate this time. Unlike last year, there were periods of continuous rain, sunshine, and heavy showers, making the ground extremely wet and muddy. What impressed me the most was the composure of the visitors, especially the English. I have to highlight the women, who were walking around in summer sandals, perfectly matching their outfits, despite the mud. That’s something I wouldn’t expect in Germany – I believe the number of visitors would have dropped significantly.

At the Goodwood Revival, around 50,000 cheerful visitors come together each day to enjoy the moment. The sound of the engines, which I had missed for a whole year, gave me absolute goosebumps!
